Shears or Scissors?

Why does your stylist use shears instead of regular scissors?

Stylist shears are made of stainless steel and are manufactured in Japan, Korea, Germany, Taiwan, China, India, or Pakistan.

They are usually mixed with different metals such as:

  • Carbon to harden and increase corrosion resistance
  • Chromium to protect against corrosion and add heat resistance
  • Vanadium to add toughness and fatigue resistance to maintain set and balance
  • Cobalt and Titanium to increase hardness and decrease weight and will result in the finest scissor steel

How to Blow Dry Your Hair

What Exactly is Shea Butter?

So what exactly is Shea Butter?

Shea Butter is a solid fatty oil derived from the nuts of karite trees.  This butter contains vitamins A, E, and D and has been used for pharmaceutical and cosmetic reasons for centuries. Shea Butter is even mentioned in historical documents as used by Cleopatra, who had clay jars full of Shea butter for cosmetic use.

And why is it so special?

Shea Butter has many uses as a decongestant, an anti-inflammatory, a healing salve, lotion, and cooking oil. But it’s most popular use is in skin care. It helps cure rashes, skin peeling, stretch marks, frost bite, burns, athletes’ foot, insect bites and stings. Shea butter also helps soothes dry and irritated scalps and can also be used as a hot oil treatment for an intensive conditioner treatment.  In recent clinical trials it was found that Shea Butter helps protect skin against climate and UV aggression, helps prevent wrinkles, soothes irritated and chapped skin and helps keep our skin moisturized.

But wait there’s more! It also helps regenerate your skin cells, helps capillary circulation which helps prevent and minimize stretch marks, inflammations and scarring.

Winter Tips for Dry Skin and Hair – Part 2

We have tips on how to keep your skin and hair healthy during the cold months!

Tips 1-3 are in the earlier blog “Winter Tips for Dry Skin and Hair – Part 1.

4. Change skin care routine.

  • Your skin becomes drier in cold weather, especially if it is windy. When it’s windy the moisture on the skin evaporates more quickly and skin doesn’t produce much oil.
  • Try adding a heavy moisturizer and use it every morning and night. Again be careful of lotions that contain mineral oil as this acts as a barrier on the skin but not a moisturizer.
  • Try an exfoliate to help remove all those dry skin cells and make your skin nice and smooth.
  • Don’t forget about the rest your body. Although your body doesn’t need as much attention as your face does it’s always good to apply some body butter.
